Greenville Grrrowl News Release
GREENVILLE, SC â The East Coast Hockey League's 2002 Kelly Cup Champion Greenville Grrrowl have announced the signing of three additional players for the 2002-03 season. Gable Gross, Curtis Menzul and Etienne Morin have signed contracts to make a total of eight signees - Tyler Deis, Rick Emmett, Matt Demarski, Eric Lind and Mike Hurley.
Gable Gross (6'0", 190 lb. Left Wing) comes to the Grrrowl after a season split between Medicine-Hat Tigers of the WHL, and Bakersfield Condors of the WCHL. Through 69 games in Medicine-Hat, Gable tallied 45 points and 71 PIM's. "Gable is a solid young offensive talent that will mix well with our system," stated John Marks, Head Coach / VP of Hockey Operations. "Local fans will see some of the same traits that they saw with AJ Baines. Gable is a very competitive skater and scorer, and will add more skill at the wing position."
Etienne Morin (6'0", 175 lb. Right Wing) is a recent graduate of Colgate University, and a captain in the hockey program. "Etienne has great speed, and will definitely benefit from a big sheet of ice," remarked Marks. "I really believe that he will contribute more on the ice on the professional level because of his speed and skating skills. He also has a solid approach in penalty kill situations."
Curtis Menzul (6'3", 215 lb. Defense) makes the trip down the mountain from Asheville of the UHL. He totaled 156 PIM's and posted 39 points as a defenseman. "Curtis is someone that we were impressed with after we were able to evaluate him during Asheville's training camp in our building last season, " stated Marks. "His size and work habits will make him a strong addition to our squad on defense. His presence can also be seen on the offensive side with his stick handling abilities"
2002-03 Greenville Grrrowl season tickets, mini-plans and flex packs are on sale now. Fans can call 864-467-GRRR or log on to grrrowl.com for more information.
