FRESNO, Calif. â The Fresno Falcons will be honored with a special ceremony on the Floor of the State Assembly at the State Capitol in Sacramento tomorrow, August 22nd, in recognition for winning the Taylor Cup Championship.
Assemblyman Mike Briggs will present the Falcons with a special resolution that honors last season's accomplishments. The presentation will take place in Room 317 of the State Capitol at 1:30 p.m. Taylor Cup Playoff MVP Kris Porter and goaltender Terry Friesen will accept the resolution on behalf of the Falcons. Following the ceremony, the Falcons will be further recognized by Assemblyman Briggs on the State Assembly Floor.
"Thank you to Assemblyman Briggs for presenting us with this resolution," said Falcons president John Tull. "There are several professional hockey teams in California, and we were the only team to bring home a championship. So, as our championship ride continues to roll along, it's extra special to be honored at the State Capitol."
The Falcons home opener in defense of their Taylor Cup title is on Oct. 18 against the Idaho Steelheads in a re-match of last season's Taylor Cup Finals. Season tickets for the upcoming 2002-2003 campaign are on sale beginning as low as $252. Please contact the Falcons office for more information at 485-PUCK (7825).
