Mississippi Re-signs Miller

BILOXI, Miss. - Mississippi Sea Wolves coach Bob Woods and general manager Mike Fitzpatrick announced today defenseman Austin Miller re-signed for the 2002-03 season. As per team policy, terms of the contract were not released.

Miller, 24, finished his senior year at Western Michigan University before playing the final 10 games of the regular season last year with Mississippi. He picked up three assists and 16 penalty minutes with the Sea Wolves. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound native of Vestal, New York also played all 10 games in the playoffs, registering two assists and 10 penalty minutes.

"It's great to be re-signed in Mississippi and I'm looking forward to playing for the same helpful coaching staff," said Miller. "The guys and fans made me feel at home and I learned a lot. I can't wait to start this season."

"Austin came in at the end of the regular season last year and played like a veteran," said Woods. "We're excited to have him back. He fits well into our team chemistry."

Mississippi opens its seventh season as a member of the East Coast Hockey League on Saturday, October 12 at Baton Rouge. The home opener for the Sea Wolves is at 5:05 p.m. on Sunday, October 13 against intrastate rival Jackson.
