LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Brock Stassi's pinch-hit single in the 8th inning broke a 2-2 tie and gave the BlueClaws a 3-2 win Friday night.
The BlueClaws trailed 2-0 in the bottom of the 3rd, but they scored single runs in the 4th, 5th and 8th innings to pull out the victory.
In his fifth appearance with Lakewood Blake Mascarello secured his third win and is now 3-0 with a 2.89 ERA. Zach Cooper made his debut with the BlueClaws and tossed a one-two-three 9th inning with a pair of strikeouts for the save.
The BlueClaws bid Hickory adieu following Friday's game, and the Savannah Sand Gnats will enter for four games against Lakewood beginning Saturday night. Game 1 of the series will feature Moises Rivas (4-6, 4.68) making his first start for the BlueClaws against Savannah's Jim Fuller (2-1, 1.54).
