Friday the 13th Haunts Rome, Lose Doubleheader

Rome, GA - The West Virginia Power came out ahead in both games of a doubleheader tonight 6-1 and 9-0 at State Mutual Stadium.

West Virginia jumped on the Braves early in game one as they scored two in the second inning. Gregory Polanco led off with a single back to the pitcher and after a stolen base and wild pitch he was driven in by a Chris Lashmet single. Jose Osuna hit a solo home run on the next pitch to make it a

2-0 game.

The Braves pushed their lone run on the board in the bottom of the second when Chase Anselment hit a sacrifice fly to plate Robby Hefflinger. The Power added two more runs in the third and two in the sixth to for the 6-1 victory. Alex Wood (0-2) was tagged for the loss and Zack Dodson (4-5) was the winning pitcher as he threw a seven inning complete game surrendering one run on four hits. Rome's one bright spot on the evening was Peter Moylan's performance in game one. He threw one inning of work and struck out one without surrendering a hit .

In game two, Rome only managed two hits and four total base runners in the game. The Power again, jumped on the Braves early as they scored two in the second and one in the third. This early lead plus excellent pitching shut down Rome for the 9-0 win. West Virginia's Mike Jefferson (3-6) earned his third win of the season and Jarett Miller (5-3) was the losing pitcher after giving up five walks in the game and four earned runs.
