Three Goals Not Enough For Texas In Loss To Bees

Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - Home cooking is much needed for the Texas Brahmas as they lost their third straight game on the road in a 5-3 loss to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees Saturday night.

Things didn't begin rookie netminder Joe Palmer's way when he gave up a breakaway goal from Jesse Bennefield on the first shot of night by the Killer Bees. It looked that Rio Grande Valley would continue to test the Brahmas and Palmer when Texas took a penalty, but instead forward Jordan Cameron took the puck and tallied his second shorthanded goal in as many nights for the tie.

The Brahmas began with the man advantage to start the second, but as soon as the Texas powerplay expired, Aaron Lee pushed the puck past Palmer to regain the lead for the Bees :41 seconds in. Zak McClellan converted on the undisciplined play of the Brahmas when he went top shelf on Palmer on the powerplay midway in the second. The reoccurring theme of the Brahmas back on the penalty kill continued in the middle frame, but strong play up front had Matt Burto send a pass to Justin Kinnunen on a two-on-one, where he one timed it pass Wylie Rogers for the Brahmas second shortie of night (league leading 14th).

A powerplay goal from Texas blueliner Luke Sellars, his second of the season, tied the game at three all in the third, but shortly thereafter the Bees leading scorer, Grant Goeckner-Zoellner took back the lead beating Palmer at the 5:47 mark. A fifth goal from Rio by Daymen Rycroft on the powerplay spelled disaster for the Brahmas as they were unable to come back from the two goal deficit and dropped their sixth consecutive game on the road in the 5-3 loss.

Texas returns home tomorrow afternoon when they faceoff against the Tulsa Oilers for a 4:05 PM start. For tickets, please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com.
