Fresno Falcons News Release
FRESNO, Calif. - Three different Fresno Falcons scored goals in the first period and Jamie Holden made 35 saves as Fresno defeated the Bakersfield Condors at Save Mart Center, 3-2.
Rob McFeeters opened the scoring when he roofed a rebound at 10:24 of the first from Matt O'Dette and Brett Hammond. Shawn Mather and Derek Krestanovich then combined to set-up Fraser Clair, who gave the Falcons a 2-0 edge at 12:48 with his 24th of the campaign. John Wroblewski capped the three-goal frame with a wrist shot from the left wing at 16:48, and Fresno headed to the second leading 3-0.
The Condors finally solved Holden skating on a five-on-three power play in the second period. Dave Bonk knocked home his own rebound at 6:26, cutting the Falcons' lead to 3-1 after two.
Fresno kept the visitors at bay until the final minute. Skating six-on-four with the goaltender pulled and the Falcons' Vince Macri in the penalty box, Bonk re-directed a Kevin Truelson floater from the point to move within a single goal with 40 seconds remaining. The Condors would not threaten again, though, and Fresno won by the final of 3-2.
The Falcons have now won a season-high seven games in a row at home and have yet to lose in regulation to a division opponent at 21-0-6 against the Pacific Division. Having already clinched first place out of the Pacific, the club is 40-13-13 with 93 points overall.
Fresno concludes a four-game home stand Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at Save Mart Center against the Phoenix RoadRunners and Utah Grizzlies, respectively.
