Trenton, NJ (March 16, 2006) - With less than 3% of the state's population donating, blood is always in short supply in New Jersey. That's why the Global Spectrum, operators of the Sovereign Bank Arena, and the Trenton Titans are teaming up with the Community Blood Council of New Jersey (CBC-NJ) to sponsor a community blood drive at the Sovereign Bank Arena on April 8th. It's the last game of the regular season for the home town's professional hockey team, and Titan fans who donate will get 2 free tickets to the game that evening, courtesy of the Titans.

"We feel very strongly about supporting health initiatives in our community," remarked Global Spectrum's Eric Cuthbertson, General Manager of the Sovereign Bank Arena. "Since blood has a very limited shelf life, it is in constant demand by our local hospitals."

"Helping our greater Trenton community is important to our entire team, both players and staff," says Titan's General Manager and Chief Operating Officer Jim Leahy. "That's why we're putting out a huge team effort, supporting CBC-NJ to help save lives." Both team mascots, Clash and Rivet, will be on hand the day of the drive and will be available for photos for fans under sixteen years old who accompany a blood donor.

"We're very excited to have the both Global Spectrum and the Titans help us in our efforts," comments Jennifer Martin-Steen, account representative with CBC-NJ. "In addition to the Titans' so generously giving a pair of tickets to each blood donor, we're giving each donor a designer T-shirt as well."

The blood drive will be held on Saturday, April 8th from 3:00 pm until 7:15 pm in the Bloodmobile, which will be located in the parking lot at the Sovereign Bank Arena. For information and to sign up, call CBC-NJ toll free at 1-866-2GiveNJ (1-866-244-8365). Although walk-ins are welcome, it helps the blood drive to run more smoothly if you make an appointment beforehand.
