TRENTON, NJ (March 29, 2006) - With 6.3 seconds left in regulation Garrett Stroshein's first goal as a Titan allowed Trenton to tie the score and skate to an eventual 4-3 shootout win over the Johnstown Chiefs on Wednesday night.
The 3,073 in attendance at Sovereign Bank Arena saw the Chiefs take a 2-0 lead in the early going of the first period as Jon Hedberg and Justin Kelly lit the lamp in a span of 1:17.
The Titans would get a crucial goal with a 1:43 left in the first as Luke Stauffacher also picked up his first goal in a Trenton uniform - a power play tally - to cut the Chiefs' lead in half.
After a scoreless middle period, Brian McConnell's wrister 3:34 into the third beat Morgan Cey to the near post to make it 2-2, but Johnstown took back the lead just 3:28 later as Jean Desrochers tipped a Ben Wallace's shot through Rejean Beauchemin's pads.
Dennis Packard's high-sticking penalty with just 12.5 left in regulation as the Titans pulled the extra attacker and skated 6-on-4. There, Stroshein backhanded a loose puck over Cey's glove to send the match to the extra session.
In the shootout Beauchemin stopped four of five and Staffaucher and Henkel got the puck past Cey to secure the 4-3 win. The Titans' goaltender made 36 saves through the overtime to register his seventh win of the season.
The Titans were a perfect 2-for-2 on the power play and 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.
