Three Cutters Combine for One-Hit Win

June 23, 2013 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

Drew Anderson pitched six innings of no-hit ball and the Cutters recorded their first winning streak with a 7-1 win over the Batavia Muckdogs Sunday night.

The Cutters got off to a hot start in the first. Zach Green hit one up the middle for a base hit, but Yefri Perez misplayed the ball in centerfield and two runs came in to score. Green made it to second with a double. He advanced to second on a sacrifice fly from Andrew Pullin and scored on a wild pitch by Helpi Reyes.

Later in the inning, Justin Parr drove in two runs with a line drive single into right field. Gustavo Martinez hit a single to short, but the ball was thrown away by Javier Lopez and Martinez advanced to second on the error. Hiciano came around from second to score and it was 6-0 Williamsport.

The Cutters had one of two home runs in the game and it didn't leave the park. Logan Pierce hit a long fly ball to right field in the eighth that Ryan Aper thought left the park. After a moment of disbelief, Aper realized it was trapped just under the wall. Cutters took a 7-0 lead.

Luis Ortiz spoiled the no-hit effort with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. On the first pitch, Ortiz hit a home run to left field for Batavia's lone run of the game.

The Cutters record their first win streak of the year and improve to 3-4. The Cutters and Muckdogs play Game 2 Monday at 7:05 P.M.
