
Three Chiefs Invited to US Junior Camp

Spokane Chiefs Drayson Bowman, Tyler Johnson and Mitch Wahl have been invited to attend the 2008 USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp in Lake Placid, N.Y., August 1st through the 9th. All three are candidates for the 2009 U.S. National Junior Team that will compete in the 2009 World Junior Championship this winter in Ottawa, Ontario.
Bowman led the Chiefs with a career high 42 goals, fourth in the WHL, 80 points and was named a Western Conference 2nd team All-Star. His six goals in the Memorial Cup led the tournament and helped place him on the All-Star Team. The Littleton, Colorado native was a third round selection of the Carolina Hurricanes in 2007.
Johnson finished his rookie season in Spokane leading all first year Chiefs with 13 goals and 35 points. Originally from Spokane, Johnson was named the MVP of the WHL Championship series after scoring three goals in four games, including game winners in games three and four versus the Lethbridge Hurricanes and a shorthanded goal.
In his second season in a Chief's sweater, Wahl led the team with 53 assists, seventh in the WHL, and finished second to Bowman in scoring with 73 points. The Seal Beach, California native also finished tied for fifth in the WHL with a +33.
Both Johnson and Wahl are eligible for the 2008 NHL Entry Draft June 20th and 21st.
The camp will feature practices and eight international games with a split squad of the best American players under the age of 20 facing off against Sweden and Finland with the first international games set for August 5th. All games will be held at the 1980 Rink Herb Brooks Arena at the Olympic Center.
