Owen Sound Attack News Release
The Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League would like to congratulate Steven Shipley, Joey Hishon and Geoffrey Schemitsch on being ranked in the top 210 North American Skaters by NHL Central Scouting for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Steven Shipley found himself being the highest ranked member of the Attack on the draft list at number 43, one better than his Mid-Term ranking of 44. The Ilderton, ON. native finished with 23 goals, 40 assists and 63 points in his sophomore season, a 24 point improvement over his rookie total. Shipley, who was selected 3rd overall in the 2008 OHL Priority Selection is a member of the Team Canada Under 18 entry competing in Belarus and will be a part of the NHL Combine in Toronto from May 24th-29th.
Joey Hishon was ranked 55th by NHL Central Scouting, nine spots down from his Mid-Term Ranking of 46th. Hishon, a native of Stratford, ON. still managed to score 16 goals and 40 points, despite missing almost half of the season with a broken foot from a shot block and an unnamed lower body injury. Hishon will also be participating in the NHL Combine in Toronto with his teammate Steven Shipley.
Rookie rearguard Geoffrey Schemitsch rounds out the list of Attack members on the NHL Central Scouting entry. Schemitsch has taken huge strides in his rookie year after being a walk-on Free Agent during last Augusts' training camp and finds himself ranked 129th among North American Skaters, 46 spots better than his Mid-Term ranking of 169th. The Vaughan native is also representing Canada at the World Under 18 Championships in Belarus.
Attack Import player Roman Berdnikov has also landed a spot on the Russian entry for the 2010 World Under 18 Championships. The Omsk, Russia native tallied 9 goals and 24 points in 38 games played for the Attack after recovering from off-season shoulder surgery.
The Owen Sound Attack congratulates Steven, Joey, Roman and Geoffrey on their accomplishments and wishes them, along with the rest of the Owen Sound Attack players the best of luck at World Under 18 Championships, 2010 NHL Entry Draft and the 2010 NHL Combine in Toronto.
