
Telegin, Shalla, Sgarbossa And Kantor Ranked By NHL Central Scouting

(Saginaw, MI) Saginaw Spirit forwards Ivan Telegin, Josh Shalla, Michael Sgarbossa and Michael Kantor were listed as top prospects for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by NHL Central Scouting in their Final Draft Rankings. One Hundred Thirty Four Canadian Hockey League Players, including 53 players from the Ontario Hockey League, were ranked by the NHL for their upcoming draft. The 2010 National Hockey League Entry Draft will take place in Los Angeles, California from June 25 to June 26.
Amongst 210 North American skaters ranked, Ivan Telegin was listed as the 33rd top prospect, down seven spots from his Mid-Term Ranking of 26th. Josh Shalla, who was ranked the 64th top prospect in the Mid-Terms, secured the 84th spot in the Final Rankings. Michael Sgarbossa rose since his previous ranking, going from the 183rd spot to the 92nd spot. Michael Kantor made his first appearance in the NHL Rankings, being ranked the 192nd overall top prospect amongst North American skaters.
The top eight ranked players are all from the CHL, including Tyler Seguin of the OHL's Plymouth Whalers who is the number one ranked player heading into the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Taylor Hall of the Windsor Spitfires is ranked second overall after being listed at number one in the midterm rankings. Brett Connolly of the WHL's Prince George Cougars is ranked third, while Erik Gudbranson of the Kingston Frontenacs is the top ranked defenceman at number four ahead of the Spitfires' Cam Fowler who is ranked fifth. Brandon Gormley of the Moncton Wildcats is the top rated QMJHL prospect ranked sixth. Calvin Pickard of the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds maintained his number one ranking amongst the goaltenders.
Last year a total of 99 CHL players were selected in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft with 16 chosen in the first round including the first overall pick John Tavares of the London Knights. Three Spirit players heard their names called at the 2009 draft, with Spirit forward Jordan Szwarz being selected by the Phoenix Coyotes 97th overall, goalie Edward Pasquale going to the Atlanta Thrashers with the 117th overall pick and defenseman Cody Sol being selected by Atlanta 125th overall.
