
Thompson, Stowers Homers Not Enough in Loss to Missions

FRISCO, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders were handed their fourth-straight loss on Wednesday night in a 5-4 loss to the San Antonio Missions from Riders Field.
The RoughRiders (59-49) began the back-and-forth affair on top when Bubba Thompson blasted a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning. It was Thompson's 14th homer of the year and his sixth to start a ballgame.
In the top of the third, the Missions (53-57) struck back with three runs of their own. Esteury Ruiz singled home the game-tying run before Eguy Rosario hit an RBI single and a throwing error allowed a second run to cross, putting San Antonio on top 3-1.
Frisco came back in the third with an RBI single from Davis Wendzel and then tied the game in the fourth when Josh Stowers crushed his 18th home run of the season, a solo shot, knotting the score at 3-3.
Allen Cordoba hit a go-ahead RBI single for San Antonio in the top of the fifth before Justin Foscue smacked an RBI double to even the game again at 4-4 in the home half of the fifth.
The Missions took the lead for good in the top of the seventh inning when Ethan Skender singled to center and an error allowed Dwanye Williams-Sutton to score.
Carlos Belen (5-2) earned the win for the Missions, firing 2.1 scoreless innings while Nick Kuzia earned his sixth save of the year by tossing a scoreless ninth.
Tai Tiedemann (1-2) was handed the loss, despite ceding just one unearned run on two hits over three innings of work out of the bullpen.
The RoughRiders and Missions continue their series with game three of the set on Thursday, September 9th at 7:05 p.m. Frisco turns to RHP Noah Bremer (4-3, 4.63) for the start against RHP Tyler Viza (1-1, 5.29).
