... but Frisco's Joe Jackson is related to the legendary "Shoeless Joe," and he hit like his great-great-great uncle in a ninth-inning at-bat on Tuesday night. Jackson's flair single to center field with the bases loaded and two out gave the RoughRiders a 5-4 victory at Security Bank Ballpark in the opening game of the Texas League's 2016 second half pennant race (all eight TL clubs began the "new day" with 0-0 records).

The game saw four lead changes, the last three of them coming on two-run swings of the bat.

Ryan Cordell's first-inning RBI single (his league-leading 51st RBI) gave the RoughRiders a 1-0 lead, but solo home runs from Matt Chapman (see note, below) and Franklin Barreto put the RockHounds on top in the home half of the second.

Frisco's Alberto Triunfel (see "Stat of the Day," below) continued to come up big in the series, ripping a two-run double down the left field line in the fourth inning, putting the Riders back on top, 4-3. A triple from J.P. Sportman with one out in the seventh and a two-out walk from Tyler Marincov set the table for Beau Taylor, who drove a two-run double to deep right-center, regaining a one-run advantage for the 'Hounds.

With one out in the top of the ninth, Frisco loaded the bases against Jake Sanchez on back-to-back singles from Preston Beck and Andy Ibanez and a walk to Ryan Cordell. After Sanchez got clean-up batter Ronald Guzman to pop out, Jackson sent a two-run flair single to center.

Viosergy Rosa drew a two-out walk in the last of the ninth, but pinch-runner Yairo Munoz was caught off first base in a game-ending caught stealing before clean-up batter Marincov (who was 2-for-2 plus a pair of walks in the game) saw a pitch.

Kibbles & Bits

STAT of the DAY Getting behind in the count is a challenge for any hitter, but three of Tuesday's biggest swings came in at-bats in which hitters dug out of deep holes. After driving in the game-winning run on an 0-2 pitch on Monday night, Alberto Triunfel did it again on Tuesday, taking James Naile's 0-2 delivery down the left field line for a two-run double, giving Frisco a 3-2 lead in the fourth. The RockHounds regained the lead in the seventh on an 0-2 triple to the gap in right center from J.P. Sportman and a two-run double from Beau Taylor, which came in a nine-pitch at-bat that started with an 0-2 count. Frisco's Ryan Cordell drew a ninth-inning walk, which helped set up the game-winning rally, against Jake Sanchez. It also started 0-2.

- Viosergy Rosa has a 12-game on-base streak (16-for-41, .390, with a .519 on-base percentage) and has hit in 19 of 22 games (25-75, .333).

- Beau Taylor has reached base in eight straight games, hitting .392 (11-for-28) and adding six walks for a .500 OBP.

- Danny Oh has also reached base in eight straight games (9-for-33, .273 with a .415 OBP).

- Brett Vertigan (0-for-5) saw both an eight-game hit streak and a 12-game on-base streak come to an end.

- If you're looking for a "good omen," Matt Chapman, 12-for-85 (.141) in his last 22 games entering Tuesday's contest, took the first pitch he saw in the game (and in the season's second half) out of the ballpark over the high wall in left field for his league-leading 16th home run.
