Rio Grande Valley Vipers News Release

HIDALGO, TEXAS - Down by 27 points in the second quarter, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers pulled with four points of the Springfield Armor in the third quarter before falling 127-111 tonight at State Farm Arena.

The game counts as a road loss for the Vipers and a home win for the Armor, as the game was originally scheduled to be played as the MassMutual Center in Springfield on February 10, but was postponed due to snow in the northeast which prevented the Vipers from flying to Springfield.

It is the Armor's first win away from the MassMutual Center, snapping a 14-game losing streak in such games. This also snaps a 12-game overall losing streak.

The Vipers led the game 26-25 (26-10) with 4:40 remaining in the first quarter, but the Armor (6-27) responded with a 15-3 run to close out the quarter. The Armor built a 27-point lead at 61-34 with 5:28 remaining in the second quarter, capping a 17-0 run that lasted 4:49. Abdulai Jaolloh had the first seven points and ten total during the run.

The Vipers opened the third quarter on a 7-0 run and got within 77-73 at the 7:16 mark. The Vipers kept the game close until the Armor closed the third and opened the fourth quarter on a 10-0 run.

"We have so many new guys right now, we've haven't really been able to run our offenses... We've tried to put the ball into Will [Conroy's] hands, let him create, and spread the floor... Right now we need to find the open man, and that's our go-to guy," Vipers head coach Chris Finch said.

Conroy finished one rebound shy of a triple-double, with 19 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds. Craig Winder continued his hot play, break the 20-point plateau for the seventh-straight game with a team-high 26 points.

Tony Bobbitt led the Armor and all scorers with 32 points while Justin Hawkins added ad double-double with 25 points, 13 rebounds and five assists.

The Vipers return to action tomorrow on Friday at 9:00 p.m. when they visit the Bakersfield Jam at the Jam Events Center.
