Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The third line of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins took control of Tuesday night's contest against the Binghamton Senators, leading the Penguins to a 4-1 win at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.

The Penguins' line of Dominik Uher, Oskar Sundqvist, and Tom Kostopoulos combined for three goals and six points overall in the win.

Uher finished the game with two goals, Kostopoulos with one goal and one assist, and Sundqvist tallied two helpers.

Binghamton scored the game's first goal when Matt Puempel pounced on a rebound at 6:57 of the first period.

Uher redirected a Reid McNeill point shot past Binghamton's goalie, Chris Driedger, to tie the game, 1-1, 1:25 into the second.

The Penguins took a 2-1 lead just 57 seconds later thanks to Sahir Gill's third goal in four games. Gill's quick go-ahead marker made Tuesday night's contest the third-consecutive game in which Wilkes-Barre/Scranton has scored two goals in less than one minute of game time.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton pulled further ahead in the contest when Tom Kostopoulos broke free for a breakaway goal at 7:36 of the third, putting the Penguins up, 3-1.

Uher put a bow on the victory with an empty netter while 32 seconds remained in the game. The late goal gave Uher the fourth two-goal game of his career and first since Apr. 1, 2015.

Matt Murray made 32 saves between the pipes for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, improving his record to 14-4-0-0 and the team's record to 24-8-0-1. Driedger made 24 saves on 27 shots for Binghamton.

Tuesday night's game also marked the return of defensemen Steve Oleksy to the Penguins' line-up, who missed the past four weeks with an upper body injury. Oleksy didn't miss a beat, finishing the game with a plus-two rating.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's next game is Friday, Jan. 8 against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at PPL Center, where the Penguins have yet to allow a goal this season. Puck drop between the Phantoms and Penguins is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
