Hershey Bears News Release
HERSHEY, Pa. - The Hershey Bears announced today that forward Cam Reid has been signed to a professional tryout agreement. The announcement was made by Bears president/general manager Doug Yingst.
Reid, 24, joins the Bears from the ECHL's Reading Royals. Appearing in 28 games this season, he ranks fifth on the squad in overall points (25), is tied for fourth in goals (nine) and is tied for second in assists (16). He has also appeared in three AHL contests this season, dressing twice for the Utica Comets and recording one assist, and going scoreless in one game with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
The 6-3, 197-pound native of Delta, British Columbia was named the Royals' most valuable player in 2014-15 after notching 59 points (25 goals, 34 assists) in 59 games, finishing fourth on the team in points and second in goals scored. He added six points (three goals, three assists) in six Kelly Cup playoff contests. Reid's performance earned him a selection to the 2015 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic in Orlando, Florida.
The fourth-year pro has appeared in a total of 85 American Hockey League games with Peoria, Milwaukee, Lake Erie, Bridgeport, Adirondack, Lehigh Valley and Utica, and has produced 27 points (six goals, 21 assists). In 98 ECHL contests with Cincinnati and Reading, Reid has amassed 92 points (36 goals, 56 assists).
Prior to turning pro, Reid played two years of college hockey at St. Cloud State (WCHA) from 2010-2012, racking up 44 points (14 goals, 30 assists) in 59 games. He also played in 31 games with the WHL's Portland Winterhawks in 2011-12, posting 32 points (13 goals, 19 assists) before going on to the WHL's Western Conference championship with 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 22 playoff games.
