With the help of an 8-run third inning, the Idaho Falls Chukars ended the Grand Junction Rockies hopes of an undefeated season, salvaging the final game of their season-opening series 15-5 Sunday afternoon at Melaleuca Field.

Denzel Richardson singled home Chris Keck with two out in the first to get the scoring started, and after the Chukars tied the game with a run in the bottom of the inning, Campbell Wear homered in his first professional at bat to give the Rockies a 2-1 lead.

Brawlun Gomez tied the game when he homered with two in the bottom of the second, and then blew the game open with the eight run third inning. Eight straight Chukars reached base with base hits. Luis Valenzuela hit his first home run of the season.

Grand Junction got two of the runs back in the fourth. Mylz Jones tripled to start the inning and when Wear singled. With two out, Chris Keck doubled to cut the Chukars lead to six.

Parker French was tagged with the loss in his professional debut, allowing seven runs in 2.1 innings. Lorenz Ozuna surrendered the last three runs of the third, and then tossed a 1-2-3 fourth inning. Christian Talley also made his debut and gave up three runs, 2 earned, in the sixth after keeping Idaho Falls off the board in the fifth. Dylan Stamey recorded the final two outs of the sixth.

After the Rockies scored a run in the top of the eighth, Idaho Falls scored a pair in their half of the inning to make it a 15-5 game.

Wear went 2-for-2 with a walk. Jones and Keck added two hit games.
