Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

OREM-After dropping the first game of the I-15 rivalry series, the Owlz bounced back taking 3 straight from the Ogden Raptors, including two in a row to open up their home play. Right-hander Jose Rodriguez led the way by going 5 innings while giving up just one earned off 4 hits while striking out 4.

Today was the first time that the home of the Owlz got to host a game on Father's Day. The entire lineup from top to bottom came through with at least one hit for Orem, while right fielder, Ranyelmy Mendoza, went 3-4 to improve his batting average to .714 on the season. Jeff Boehm had the only home run for the Owlz, a two-run shot off Victor Gonzalez in the bottom of the second inning.

The bats continued to pop for Orem as they scored in 9 of the total 16 innings of work over their two-game home stand this weekend. The Raptors tried to slowly claw their way back tonight by scoring 2 runs in the top of the 7th inning, including a solo shot by Michael Medina. Gonzalez got the loss going just 4 innings, while giving up 4 earned runs, dropping the Raptors to a 1-3 record.

To finish off a great Father's Day, those in attendance got to enter the field and throw the ball around with their kids. Orem, now 3-1 on the season, will head out to Grand Junction to take on the Rockies tomorrow night in a 4 game stand.

The game can be heard at audio.oremowlz.com.
