THIS WEEK'S OPPONENT...

The Hershey Bears (Colorado) will face off against the St. John's Maple Leafs tonight and Thursday for the first time in three AHL seasons... the all-time series is tied at 13-13- 2... Right -winger Brian Willsie returns to the Bears lineup for his sixth season. Willsie had 57 points (27g,28a) in 59 games last season... Goaltender Peter Budaj (Avalanche's 1st choice, 63rd overall in the 2001 Entry Draft) posted a 10- 10-2 record, a 2.66 GAA and a. 911 save percentage in 28 appearances last year... The Hershey Bears are coming off a 4-4 tie against the Syracuse Crunch Saturday night.

The St. John's Maple Leafs and the Manitoba Moose (Vancouver) will renew their homeand home series this Saturday and Sunday at Mile One Stadium... Moose forward Fedor Federov tallied seven points (3g,4a) in two games against the Baby Buds... Forwards Mike Brown and rookie Kyle Wellwood led St. John's with a goal and an assist each against Manitoba... Brandon Reid is back for another season with the Moose. Reid was the team's leading score in 2002-03 with 54 points including 18 goals in 73 games.

WHO'S HOT...

Mike Brown: Newly aquired Mike Brown had an immediate impact for the Maple Leafs scoring a goal and adding an assist in the team's first win of the saeason, a 5-4 victory over the Moose.

Brendan Bell: Defenceman Brendan Bell is tied for the team lead with 2 assists. He alos leads the team with seven shots on net in two games.

Brad Leeb: Brad Leeb had two assists against the Moose last weekend.

Kyle Wellwood: rookie forward Kyle Wellwood has a goal and an assist in two games so far this season. Wellwood was a Silver Medialit for team Canada at the 2003 World Junior Championships in Halifax.

Jay Harrison: Defenceman Jay Harrison Scored his first goal of the season on Saturday in a 5-4 win over Manitoba. Harrison also has eight Penalty Minutes in two games against the Moose.

LEAFLETS...

- Head Coach Doug Shedden record his first win the AHL last Saturday in a 5-4 victory over the Manitoba Moose.

- Aaron Gavey, with over 400 NHL games under his belt, has been named the 11th captain in St. John's Maple Leafs 13 year history. Defenceman Marc Moro and forward Josh Holden will wear the A.

- The Baby Buds will play four games in five night starting with the Hershey Bears and then the Manitoba Moose.

- St. John's is ranked 4th in the League while on the powerplay at a 33.3% success rate.
