Hershey Bears News Release

Steve Brule scored the game winning goal with two minutes remaining in regulation as the Hershey Bears stun the St. John's Maple Leafs by a score of 5-4 in a thrilling game at Mile One Stadium, in St. John's, Newfoundland. This also marks the first career win for rookie head coach, Paul Fixter.

The Bears got an early 1-0 lead on a first period power-play goal from Shane Willis. After that, it was all Maple Leafs' special teams, scoring four consecutive goals, two on the power play and two shorthanded.

The visitors fought back in the third period, scoring two power-play goals of their own, first from Gavin Morgan (1 goal, 1 assist), his second goal of the year and then Shane Willis, his second power-play goal of the game, third of the season. Hershey was within a goal, when Brad Larsen was credited with his first goal of the season. The puck deflected off of him past Leaf's goalie, Sebastien Centomo to tie the game at four. With two minutes remaining in regulation, Steve Brule blasted the game winning goal past Centomo to bring the Bears all the way back to a 5-4 victory.

Other notable players were Brett Clark with three assists and Pascal Trepanier with two assists. Peter Budaj gets his first win of the season in goal, stopping 27 of 31 shots.

The Bears return to action Thursday, against the same St. John's Maple Leafs. Join John Walton for all of the play-by-play action, live from St. John's, with the pre-game show beginning at 5:45 pm on BIG 92.7 or Pennlive.com.
