Newark, NJ- Juan Thomas was suffering through an 0-for-16 slump and a two-week home run drought until tonight. He Tied up the game with a solo shot in the second innning, Chad Gambill also hit a two-run blast that same inning, And then Thomas added a monster three-run shot to center field to give the SSurf a 6-1 lead.
Andy Zwirchitz pitched a great game going 5 2/3 innings for his seventh win of the season. The Bears did score three runs on the night, But the Surf added three more of thier own with Raul Marval''s two-run homer, and a Brody Jackson RBI double. Marval had also been in a major slump before the series.
The final score of this game was all Surf, 9-3. Calvin Maduro picked up the loss for Newark as the Surf are now 1-1 in the second half.
Rickey Henderson in 2-for19 against AC, and is pretty close to signing with the Dodgers. This might of been his last game in the Atlantic League.
