North Shore Spirit News Release
The North Shore Spirit lost to Les Capitales De Quebec 5-2 in game two on Saturday night at the New Fraser Field in Lynn.
Jeff Harris (4-2) picked up the win for Quebec pitching eight innings with eight strikeouts and giving up one run. Klae Calvert (4-2) took the loss for the Spirit after pitching eight innings.
Marcos Agramonte was stellar at the plate going 4-5 with two triples and two doubles. Agramonte is now the League leader in triples with 7.
The Spirit scored their first run in the bottom of the 6th inning. Centerfielder Carlos Sepulveda tripled and was knocked in on a Frank Charles single to shallow right field.
Quebec finished with 12 hits for the night behind first baseman Jeremy Todd. Todd was 2-4 with 2 RBI. In the 7th inning Jason Ballon doubled and advanced to third on Asdrubal Oropeza's sacrifice bunt and scored on Todd's two-run homer. Osmani Garcia had a solo homerun in the top of the 8th giving Quebec a more comfortable lead.
The Spirit rallied a run in the 9th inning on a two-out triple by Agramonte and an RBI by Jason Startari. Startari's RBI, his 22, makes him the team leader in RBI. It was not enough though as Quebec closer Mark Cisar forced Mike Tejada to ground out to end the game.
Spirit ace John Kelly (7-0) takes the mound Sunday and will throw the first pitch at 1:30 p.m. Sunday is Spirit Sprout Day at Fraser Field where all members of the St. Jean's Spirit Sprouts receive free admission to the game. It is also Harry Agganis Day on Sunday to honor the memory of the former Lynn athlete.
