Southwest Michigan Devil Rays News Release
BATTLE CREEK, Mich--The Southwest Michigan Devil Rays fell to the Cedar Rapids Kernels tonight by a score of 12-6. The Kernels scored four runs in the forth and eighth innings to pull away from the Rays.
The Kernels were just too much for the Devil Rays bullpen tonight. Every batter for the Kernels registered a hit in the game. Seven of the nine batters were walked.
J.T. Hall led the Rays with three hits in five trips to the plate and an RBI. Designated Hitter, Christian Lopez, added some late heroics with a two RBI single in the bottom of the ninth.
Devil Rays starter Jason Cayton picked up his second loss of the season, tossing four innings and giving up six hits, six runs, and walking four. The rest of the Rays bullpen also endured a tough game. Eddie DeLaCruz came in to start the eighth frame and gave up four runs off of three hits and two walks.
