
The El Paso Diablos win 1-0 over Fort Worth

Walter Olmstead's solo homerun in the top of the seventh inning powered El Paso to a 1-0 victory over the Fort Worth Cats on Saturday night at LaGrave Field.
Josh Neitz avoided some trouble in the bottom of the second inning. With one out Chuck Carter walked. Carter later advanced to second base on a steal. Neitz proceeded to strike out Moye and Foster to escape the mini-jam and keep the game scoreless.
Both Josh Neitz and Lee Gwaltney cruised through the first three innings as they each only allowed one base hit with no runs. Josh Neitz had six strikeouts after the first three.
Josh Neitz escaped a big jam in the bottom of the fifth. With one out Neitz walked John Allen. Two batters later Terrence Green hit a grounder to third and Juan Camacho overthrew first baseman Casey Clary to put runners on the corners with two outs. However, Neitz induced Marc Mirrizi into a ground out to end the jam.
Josh Neitz proved resilient again one inning later. In the bottom of the sixth Neitz walked Gulledge to lead things off. Gulledge would move over to third base on a wild pitch and a throwing error from Matt Kent with no outs. The Diablos pitching staff shut down the biggest scare of the game though. Josh Neitz induced Carlos Adolfo into a ground out and Dustin Cameron retired the next two Cat's on 1-3 putout's to end the jam.
The Diablos finally reached the scoreboard in the top of the seventh inning. Walter Olmstead led off the frame by belting a solo-homerun to deep left field. It was Olmstead's second home-run in three nights. The Diablos would take the 1-0 advantage into the bottom of the seventh.
The Cats had a final chance in the bottom of the ninth. Ned Darley came into replace Dustin Cameron and retired Carlos Adolfo on a fly out for the first out. Darley then walked Chuck Carter to put the tieing run on base. Two batters later Jordan Foster hit an infield single to second base to move the tieing run over to second. With two outs, Ned Darley forced John Allen to pop out to the right fielder Jordan Belcher preserving the victory for El Paso.
The Diablos maintain a 1.5 game advantage of the Shreveport Sports in the Southern Division.
Josh Neitz threw five and a third scoreless innings allowing just three base hits with three walks and seven strikeouts.
Dustin Cameron gets the win (1-0) as he tossed two and two thirds scoreless innings of relief with no walks and three strikeouts.
Ned Darley picks up his eighth save of the season with one inning of scoreless baseball and one strikeout.
Lee Gwaltney threw six shut-out innings allowing just two base hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
The El Paso Diablos will close out their seven game road trip on Sunday night at 5:05 PM MST. Charles O'Neal will match up against Corey Walters in the ball game. The game will be broadcast live at www.diablos.com with Jon Barr on the call.
