After six complete innings of scoreless baseball, El Paso DH Walter Olmstead took the game in his own hands. With the bases empty in the top of the seventh inning, Olmstead hit his fifth home run of the season to give the Diablos pitching staff all the run support they would need. The homer was Olmstead's only hit of the night, and one of only four surrendered by the Cats pitching staff. Neither starting pitcher figured in the decision, as El Paso's Josh Neitz left the game in the sixth inning and Fort Worth's Lee Gwaltney exited after the sixth. Neitz pitched 5.1 innings and allowed no runs on three hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. Gwaltney was perhaps even more impressive, as he pitched six innings and allowed no runs on two hits with five strikeouts. Diablos reliever Dustin Cameron earned his first win of the season and closer Ned Darley picked up his eighth save.

Coastal Bend 2, Sioux City 1

Aviators starting pitcher Derrick Van Dusen improved his record to 4-2 on the season, pitching seven efficient innings against Sioux City Saturday. Van Dusen gave up no runs on one hit with five walks and eight strikeouts. With the win, Van Dusen improves his record to 4-2 on the season. Coastal Bend DH Bryon Smith went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Leading 2-0 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Aviators closer Ty Atlee entered the game in an attempt to pick up his fourth save of the season. Atlee walked two batters and gave up a one-run hit to Explorers 2B Alex Llanos, but finished out the game without surrendering another hit, giving the Aviators their 12th win of the season.

Lincoln 7, St. Joe 6

In a game that saw three lead changes, Lincoln used a two-run single from C Aaron Mendoza in the bottom of the seventh inning to score the games final runs and get a 7-6 win over St. Joe. Mendoza had three RBI on the night to highlight his 1-for-2 game. Saltdogs reliever Kyle Ruwe earned his fourth win of the season with 1.1 innings pitched in which he allowed one run on two hits while striking out two Blacksnakes batters. For the Blacksnakes, LF Paul Weichard went 3-for-5 with two runs scored. The Saltdogs have won 16 of their last 17 games.

Shreveport 5, Pensacola 2

The Sports took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning against Pensacola and never looked back en route to their 16th win of the season. Sports CF Deacon Burns hit his first homer of the season and crossed home plate twice on a 2-for-5 night. Starting Shreveport pitcher Derek Cunningham brought his record to .500 at 2-2 on the season thanks to 5.2 solid innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out six Pelicans batters. For the Pelicans, DH Jamie Miller went 2-for-4 with an RBI. With a record of 16-12, the Sports sit one and a half games back of South-Division-leading El Paso.

St. Paul 7, Sioux Falls 2

The Saints got hits from seven different batters Saturday to help pick up a home win against visiting Sioux Falls. Saints CF Scooter Jordan went 2-for-4 on the night and scored twice. Starting St. Paul pitcher Brian Whinnery drew his record to .500 at 1-1 with a six-inning performance in which he allowed one run on four hits with four strikeouts, three of which came against Sioux Falls CF James Shanks. For the Canaries, DH Will Smith went 2-for-4 and scored a run. St. Paul sits in the middle of the North Division with a record of 16-12.
