The Diablos win their third straight, 8-7 over Coastal Bend.

The El Paso Diablos won their third straight and squeaked by the Coastal Bend Aviators 8-7 on Saturday night from Robstown, TX.

El Paso got off to a quick start against Coastal Bend in the top of the first inning. Juan Camacho belted in two runs with a double to the left field wall, for the early 2-0 lead.

The Aviators responded in the bottom of the first. Bryon Smith ripped a two out single through the left side plating J.D Foust as the Aviators cut the deficit to 2-1.

The Diablos tacked together two more runs in the top of the second. Logan Wood crushed his second home run of the season to left field to lead off the frame. Kory Drew got his second base hit in two innings as he drove in Jordan Belcher with an RBI single making it 4-1.

El Paso added an extra run in the top of the fourth. Jorge Alvarez hit his second double of the contest plating Evan Conley for the 5-1 lead.

Andy Torres dodged a few bullets in the bottom of the fourth inning. With two outs Ryan Rachal and Phillip Grau had back to back singles. Torres then settled down and struck out Bryan Fryer to end the jam.

The Aviators took flight in the bottom of the fifth inning. James Lofton crushed his second home run of the season off of Andy Torres in the first at bat of the inning. However, Torres retired the next three Aviators to end the frame.

Juan Camacho continued his hot hitting in the top of the sixth. Camacho scored Albenis Machado on a line drive through the left side, extending the Diablos lead to 6-2. Matt Kent helped the Diablos jump out 7-2 in the next inning. Kent led off the frame with a double off the left field wall. Kent then advanced to third base and eventually scored on two passed balls by catcher Steve Ketter.

The Diablos pieced together another run in the top of the eighth inning. Juan Camacho was the culprit again as he drove in Jorge Alvarez with a towering double to deep left field giving the Diablos the six-run cushion at 8-2.

The Aviators had an explosive bottom of the eighth inning streaking right back into the contest. The Aviators scored five runs off of Diablo relievers Jacoby Marshall and Mike Cervera with three base hits and two walks. Cervera did retire the final two Aviators of the inning.

Ned Darley came in for the ninth inning looking for his third straight save of the season. Darley retired the first two Aviators before surrendering back to back singles to Grant Richardson and Steve Ketter. Darley retired the final batter Ryan Rachal on a groundout to first base, picking up his fifth save of the season.

Andy Torres (2-0) picks up the victory as he threw seven full innings allowing just two runs on nine hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

Jose Luis Lopez (0-1) gets the loss as he threw five full surrendering five runs on ten hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.

The El Paso Diablos will close out their six game road trip on Sunday night against the Coastal Bend Aviators at 6:05 PM (MST). Greg Wiltshire will face Derrick Van Dusen in the finale. The game will be broadcast at www.diablos.com with Jon Barr on the call.
