Green Bay Blizzard News Release
When it comes to promotions, events and special guests in live minor league sporting events, there are several names that stand out: Bill Veeck, Max Patkin, and the San Diego Chicken, just to name a few. This Saturday, at their game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers, the Green Bay Blizzard, Nicolet Bank and La Farge North America are proud to have one of the most famous and beloved figures in all of minor league sports, for the first time ever in Green Bay, Myron Noodleman.
Dubbed "The Clown Prince of Baseball" by Max Patkin, the original Clown Prince who passed the torch himself, Noodleman is known far and wide for his family-friendly slapstick brand of humor. His antics are highly interactive, and he can be seen in the stands having fun with the fans and on the field hamming it up with players, coaches and officials. Best known for his spot-on "Dueling Signals," which is the mimicking of baseball coaches sending in signals to the players, his timing and delivery are what make him so entertaining.
From his website: "Myron Noodleman is the invention of Rick Hader, a former high school math teacher at Union High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. When he showed up at a school football game in the late 80's dressed in full nerd regalia, he proved to be both talented and fearless as he performed before his students and teaching peers. After a few more trials he hired an agent and attended the Baseball Winter Meetings in Dallas (1994) - the road to royalty had begun and the Union High Math Department was looking for a replacement. He honed his act through years of touring. Every summer he has performed at over 60 to 70 baseball parks across North America. That's a lot of airports and hotels. Many of the teams that hired him in his first touring year still have him back year after year as a tradition. He has been the celebrity attraction to numerous 'Nerd Nite' promotions."
When Noodleman performs this Saturday, he will add some much-needed levity to a very important game. The Blizzard is taking on the East Division-leading Pioneers in a game that could help decide the Division Championship. Currently in 2nd place in the Division, the Blizzard holds the 4th seed in the American Conference. If the playoffs were to start today, the Blizzard would play host to the 5th-ranked Birmingham Steeldogs, who are led by QB Ryan Hawk, the older brother of Green Bay Packers LB A.J. Hawk. The Blizzard are battling the Pioneers to win the Division crown, and the first-round bye and home-field advantage that go with it.
Tickets for the game are still available! For more information, contact the Blizzard office at (920) 405-1264.
