Xplorers assigned lineman

June 21, 2006 - arenafootball2 (af2) - Memphis Xplorers News Release

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Memphis Xplorers of af2 were assigned OL/DL Alex Bell by the league office today. The team also placed veteran WR/DB Terrell Adams on the Long Term Injured Reserve.

Adams suffered a knee injury that could be season ending in the first quarter of last Saturday's loss to Birmingham. In 10 games this season, Adams was second on the team with 47 receptions for 576 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was also fourth on the team with 32 tackles.

Bell was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Giants (NFL) in May, 2005. This past season, he was with the Grand Rapids Rampage for the first 10 weeks of the AFL season before finishing with the Nashville Cats where he finished the season on the practice squad. Bell appeared in one game with the Rampage and none with the Cats.

Bell, 6-foot-3, 330 pounds, was a four year starter on the offensive line at Division III Hobart College in New York.

During his career at Hobart, the Modena, NY native was named to ten All-American Teams and did not give up a sack in his last three seasons.

In his senior season of 2004, Bell was named to three All-American teams including, American Football Coaches Association, and Football Gazette. He also played for Team USA in the Aztec Bowl, the Division III Football All-Star Game.

"Alex should step right in and have an immediate impact on our front," Xplorers Head Coach Danton Barto said.

The Xplorers (8-3) play game number 12 of the season this Saturday when they host the South Georgia Wildcats at 7pm at the DeSoto Civic Center.
