The Carolina Mudcats and The Miracle League of the Triangle Partner-up for Baseball Camp

August 13, 2007 - Southern League (SL1)
Carolina Mudcats News Release

ZEBULON, NC: Five County Stadium will be teaming with baseball players big and small Saturday, August 18th as The Carolina Mudcats Baseball team hosts its first ever baseball camp for The Miracle League of the Triangle. From 9am to 12pm the children of The Miracle League will learn the fundamentals of fielding, throwing, catching, hitting and much more. After the clinic is over players, coaches and of course Muddy the Mudcat will be signing autographs for all the kids.

The Mudcats have held a mini-camp for many years, and after striking up a relationship with the Miracle League are eager to offer a camp for children who may have otherwise been excluded.

On May 13th The Miracle League of the Triangle attended a Mudcats game as a way to celebrate Mother's Day and for the children to be able to give back to their mothers. Before the game, eight of The Miracle League players ran onto the field with the Mudcats player during the National Anthem, which was sung by The Miracle League's own Shane Dittmar. Following the game all the children went down onto the field and ran around the bases. After the players and coaches saw how much joy that brought to the children, they suggested to the Mudcats front office staff that they wanted to have a baseball clinic for the kids.

After much discussion and planning the Mudcats front office staff, the Mudcats coaches and those at The Miracle League, decided Five County Stadium would be the perfect venue. It is so neat for the children to be able to practice on a professional baseball field. Everyone is so excited about the baseball clinic coming up; it is a tie between the Mudcats players and The Miracle League players on the excitement level. As the saying goes at The Miracle League, "Every Child Deserves a Chance to Play Baseball!"
