Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack are set to play 3 games this weekend, with all 3 opponents currently sitting in the top 5 in the Western Conference. Friday the 3rd place Attack take on the 1st place London Knights in London, Saturday they head home to face the SOO who currently holds 2nd place, and Sunday they wrap up the weekend at home against Saginaw who is in 5th place.

Friday at the Budweiser Gardens in London, the Attack will look to build upon their 1-1-0-1 record against the Knights so far this year. London has been on a tear recently, winning 9 straight games. They will try to make it 10 straight against Mississauga on Thursday, before they get set to battle the division rival Attack on Saturday.

The Knights have been bolstered by the return of captain Evan Bouchard and Alex Formenton, from the Edmonton Oilers and the Ottawa Senators, respectively, and have received stellar goaltending from Jordan Kooy. The Vegas Golden Knights prospect currently leads the league in both goals against average and save percentage, with a 1.97 and a .935 respectively.

Up front, Cole Tymkin leads London in scoring with exactly 21 points in 21 games. However, they have been receiving a lot of scoring by committee, as they currently have 10 players with over 10 points, with Bouchard and Formenton certainly both joining that group shortly.

Saturday evening at the Bayshore will be another highly contested matchup, this time between the Attack and northern rival Sault Ste. Marie. Saturday, the Owen Sound Attack are teaming up with Special Olympics Ontario to raise awareness of individuals with an intellectual disability.

The game will feature a ceremonial puck drop and Special Olympics Ontario will have a kiosk set up on the concourse to provide fans with information. This awareness campaign is part of the Ontario Hockey League and The Owen Sound Attack's commitment to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics.

The SOO have looked good to start the season, but have slowed down as of late with goaltender Matthew Villalta out battling an injury. Leading the charge for the Greyhounds is Philadelphia Flyer's 1st Round Draft Pick Morgan Frost, who currently boasts 37 points in 23 games.

Arizona Coyotes' 1st Round Draft Pick Barrett Hayton has 26 points through 16 games, and Leafs prospect Mac Hollowell currently has 23 points in 19 games as a defenceman.

Native of nearby Honeywood Ontario, and former Grey Bruce Highlander Zack Trott is on the Greyhounds again this year. Trott has posted 3 goals and 5 assists so far this season.

Sunday afternoon the Bears will take on Saginaw for the first time this season, in another IPC Sunday Game. This means fans will again have the opportunity to skate with the team following the game, and receive autographs from their favourite players. Fans are reminded that everyone must wear skates to be allowed on the ice surface, and anyone under the age of 16 will be required to wear a CSA approved helmet. Children under the age of 13 can enter the contest to win a meet and greet with their favourite Attack player following the game.

Saginaw is in 5th place in the Western Conference right now, but lost their last 2 games heading into the week. The Spirit take on North Bay Thursday and are in Sudbury Friday before coming back down to take on the Bears Sunday afternoon.

5th overall pick in this past year's OHL Draft Cole Perfetti has been dynamic to begin his rookie season, posting 13 points in 17 games. New York Islanders Draft Pick, defenceman Bode Wilde has also been turning a lot of heads in his first OHL season, putting up 17 points through his first 16 games.

Fans can purchase tickets for both home games at the MacVicar & McComb ReMax Attack Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com, or by calling 519-371-7452.

The Weekend Preview is brought to you by Joe Tomato's, located next to the Galaxy Cinemas on the Sunset Strip. Following each Attack Home Game, fans are encouraged to bring in their ticket stubs for half priced wings and appetizers.
