Montreal Alouettes News Release
Montreal, Aug. 26, 2008 - With the eyes and ears of football fans tuned into the first-place Alouettes this summer, the club is excited to welcome another major Quebec act, singer Anik Jean, as she will perform at half-time of Montreal's Aug. 29 game against the BC Lions.
Jean worked with producer Mark Plati, who made his name working with the likes of David Bowie, Louise Attaque and Rita Mitsouko, on her recent album, Le ciel saigne le martyre, released in 2008. Her single Oh mon chéri was a huge commercial success.
Jean broke onto the scene with her 2005 album, Le Trashy Saloon, and has since been nominated for a Grand prix de la relève Archambault award, and for Francophone Album of the Year at the 2005 Juno Awards. She garnered further attention following her nomination for breakthrough artist of the year at the ADISQ Gala and her video for Tendre sorcière was also nominated for best francophone music video at the 2006 Much Music Video Awards.
Known for her energy and enthusiasm, Jean was an obvious choice to open for The Rolling Stones when they played Montreal in 2006.
