Toronto, ON - (August 26, 2008) - AJ Harris, Dario Romero, Sandro DeAngelis, and Mike Labinjo were named the CFL's top players for week #9, the Canadian Football League announced today.
Players of the Week are selected for on-field excellence by members of the Canadian football broadcasters.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
RB - AJ Harris - Edmonton Eskimos
Saskatchewan Roughriders 10 @ Edmonton Eskimos 27
Highlights / Key Stats:
A.J. Harris rushed 21 times for a CFL season high 189 yards and one touchdown in the Eskimos 27-10 victory over the Roughriders last Thursday night. Harris was also a factor in the passing game, adding four catches for 30 yards. The 219 yards from scrimmage were the most in the league for week 9.
On the season AJ Harris has 73 carries for 451 yards and three touchdowns. He also has 24 catches for 244 yards. His 451 yards place him fifth in the league in rushing.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DT - Dario Romero - Edmonton Eskimos
Saskatchewan Roughriders 10 @ Edmonton Eskimos 27
Highlights / Key Stats:
Dario Romero had three tackles and two sacks in the Eskimos victory. Romero was a factor in the middle of the defence all game long as the Eskimos held running back Wes Cates to less than 80 yards for only the second time this season. The Eskimos, led by Romero, pressured quarterback Marcus Crandell for the entire game.
Dario Romero has 17 tackles, five sacks and a forced fumble on the season. His five sacks place him fourth in the league and have already surpassed his previous career high of four.

Highlights / Key Stats:
Sandro DeAngelis had a perfect kicking day going 5 for 5 on field goals and 3 for 3 on converts. DeAngelis had field goals of 15, 27, 27, 34 and 36 yards in the victory. DeAngelis hasn't missed a field goal since the end of Week 6 when his 50-yard attempt went wide.
Sandro DeAngelis is 22 of 26 (84%) on the season with a long of 46 and 24 of 24 on converts. His 93 total points are third in the league.

DE - Mike Labinjo - Calgary Stampeders
Calgary Stampeders 36 @ B.C. Lions 29
Highlights / Key Stats:
Mike Labinjo had five tackles and a sack as the Calgary Stampeders held on for a crucial road victory over the B.C. Lions. His excellent play was never more evident than halfway through the third quarter with B.C. up by one point when he tackled running back Stefan Logan at the line of scrimmage and then on the next play sacked Jarious Jackson, single handedly ending the Lions possession.
Mike Labinjo has 22 tackles, a special teams tackle and one sack on the season.
