The Aftermath: Storm Comeback Falls Short in Loss

KEARNEY, NE- The Tri-City Storm's comeback efforts on Saturday night fell short as the team dropped a 4-3 decision on home ice to the Sioux City Musketeers. Vladislav Lukashevich, August Fallon, and Trevor Connelly each netted a goal during the matchup for Tri-City. The Storm returns to action on Friday, October 6th, at 7:05pm CT in a home game against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. Kaden Shahan scored the first goal of Saturday's opening period to give the Musketeers a 1-0 lead in the matchup. The goal was netted at 11:07 of the 1st period, and was scored even-strength. Vladislav Lukashevich scored for the first time in his USHL career at 13:31 of the opening period for the Storm to tie the game at 1-1. Owen Beckner and Trevor Connelly each notched an assist on the even-strength scoring play. Sioux City outshot Tri-City 7-6 in the 1st period, and the 2nd period began with the two Western Conference foes locked in a 1-1 tie.

The Musketeers scored the only two goals of Saturday's middle period to take a 3-1 lead in the matchup. Tate Pritchard netted his first goal of the year at 9:34 of the 2nd period to give Sioux City a one-goal advantage in the matchup. Gavin Garry and Easton Jacobs each notched an assist on the scoring play. Ethan Gardula scored a powerplay goal with less than a minute to play in the middle period to give the Musketeers a 3-1 lead. Dylan Godbout notched an assist on the goal. Sioux City outshot Tri-City 11-6 in the 2nd period, and the Musketeers carried a two-goal lead into the 3rd period.

Kaden Shahan netted his second goal of the matchup at 2:45 of Saturday's final period to give the Musketeers a 4-1 lead in the battle. Max Strand and Jordan Ronn each notched an assist on the scoring play. August Falloon scored his team-leading 4th goal of the season at 11:23 of the 3rd period to bring the Storm within two goals of the Musketeers' lead. Falloon's goal was scored on the powerplay, and was assisted by Seth Constance. The final goal of Saturday's matchup was scored by Trevor Connelly at 13:59 of the 3rd period. Connelly's goal was his second of the year, and was assisted by Nolan Roed and Alex Bales. Tri-City outshot Sioux City 11-5 in the 3rd period, and each team recorded 23 shots on net during the matchup. The Storm finished the game 1/7 on the powerplay, and 2/3 on the penalty kill. Tri-City dropped to 3-1-0-0 on the season in the loss.

Ivan Zhigalov dropped the game in goal for the Storm after making 19 saves on 23 shots during the matchup. Jakub Krbecek picked up the victory in goal for the Musketeers in a 20-save-on-23-shots effort.
