Sioux Falls Stampede News Release
URBANDALE, IOWA- The Sioux Falls Stampede earned two points in USHL rankings after a 4-3 overtime win over the Des Moines Buccaneers Saturday evening. Jake Toll, Jaksen Panzer, Alex Rybakov and JJ Wiebusch each marked a goal in the win, with Caleb Heil being a presence between the pipes.
The Stampede found themselves battling to get on the board after the Buccaneers went up by two goals with over half of the game ticked off the clock. Jake Toll made sure the Herd did not have to go into the final frame empty handed when he marked his first USHL goal with just 51 seconds remaining in the second. Egor Barabanov and Jaksen Panzer found their names on the stat sheet with the assists.
The Herd fought back in the third period with two goals of their own and holding the Buccaneers to adding just one. Panzer tallied the period-opening goal 1:30 into the final frame with assists from Barabanov and JJ Wiebusch. After the Buccaneers answered back and went up 3-2, the Herd scrambled to keep themselves in the game. Finally, Alex Rybakov was able to add his first goal of the season, second of his career, with just over five minutes to play, tying the whole game up at three goals each.
Last week, the Stampede missed out on an additional point after heading to overtime against the Tri-City Storm, but they flipped the script against the Buccaneers. With just under two minutes off the clock during the three-on-three, five-minute overtime, JJ Wiebusch toe dragged his way into the win column at the 1:54 mark. Barabanov earned his third assist of the night on Wiebusch's goal.
Caleb Heil found the win between the pipes, adding 61:54 minutes to his record. Stopping 27 of the 30 shots on his net, Heil marked his second straight game of earning a .900 save percentage. A 2.91 goals-against average moves his season GAA to 2.46.
The Herd is back in Sioux Falls next Saturday for the team's Home Opener against the Waterloo Black Hawks at 6:05 p.m. at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. More information on the Home Opener is available on the Stampede website. Tickets are available now through Ticketmaster, the Stampede office, or the KELOLAND box office.
