October 10, 2014 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Soo Greyhounds News Release
The Soo Greyhounds will be looking to keep the streak alive, along with extending their lead in the West Division, as they head into Thanksgiving Weekend for a pair of home games.
Sitting with a 5-0-0-0 record, the Hounds skate into action on Saturday, October 11th against the Owen Sound Attack (7:07 p.m.). The game mark's the one, and only, regular season visit to the Lock City for Owen Sound.
These two teams have met in the opening round of the post-season in back-to-back years (2012,2013) fuelling a much anticipated matchup between the Western Conference opponents.
Then less than twenty-four hours later (Sunday, October 12), the Hounds will host the London Knights in a 2:07 p.m. matinee contest.
The perennial OHL powerhouse Knights received good news to start the month of October when 4th year forward Max Domi was returned to the club by the NHL's Arizona Coyotes.
Here's some news and notes to get you ready for into this weekend's action.
HOUNDS

* With 24 goals for, and 10 goals against the Hounds are averaging 4.8 goals per game while limiting their opposition to 2. Offensively the Hounds hold the league's 3rd most goals for heading into tonight's schedule of games
* With 8 points to-date, Soo forward BLAKE SPEERS has hit the scoresheet in every game this season including two multi-point games. Tied with Speers at the top of the Hounds scoring is DAVID MILLER (2-6-8) while Carolina Hurricane's prospect SERGEY TOLCHINSKY sits a single point back with 2 goals and 5 assists.
* INJURY - Forward BRYAN MOORE will miss this weekend's action due to a minor shoulder sprain suffered during practice on Thursday.
OWEN SOUND ATTACK
* Their stop in Sault Ste. Marie will cap off a three-game-in-three-days Northern Ontario roadswing for the Attack. Their trip started with a 3-2 overtime victory in North Bay Thursday before tonight's action in Sudbury
* Defenseman Damir Sharipzyanov leads Owen Sounds offense with 1 goal and 9 assists in 6 games played for the Attack. The Nizhnekamsk, Russia native was the Attacks' 1st Round selection in the 2013 CHL Import Draft

LONDON KNIGHTS
* London headed into tonight's action with a 1-3 record through their opening four games of the season. During that time the Knights had 6 goals for and had lost two-in-a-row
* The Knights current active 26-man roster features 10 players in their first year of OHL action. That number includes 7 defenseman with only Dakota Mermis and Aiden Jamieson as the returning blueliners.
* New to the London nets is Michael Giugovaz. The 4th year goaltender was acquired in the off-season from the Belleville Bulls in exchange for a conditional 15th Round pick in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection. Giugovaz has previously played for the Bulls (1 year) and Peterborough Petes (2 years)
