Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (March 16)-The Texas-Oklahoma rivalry wouldn't be complete without a shootout, and that's what it took Wednesday evening where Chad Woollard, skating in his 700th career game, won the game for the Brahmas 4-3 at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
A good start would be necessary for Texas to break their three game losing skid, and forward Dylan Stanley did just that when he loaded and rifled a blast past Trevor Cann for 1-0 lead. Exactly a minute and a half later Tulsa's leading scorer, Chad Costello, tied the game beating Texas' newest netminder Steve Christie.
The first shot in the second period came at the 18:27 mark, and it came from Jason Deitsch who shelved it for his 19th of the season. The Oiler's went two men down late in the middle frame and Brahmas' captain Deitsch proved to have the hot hand when he netted his second of the game with 1:32 remaining on the two man advantage.
Tulsa went in search for a comeback and came within one shot when John Mori's attempt found the back of the net four minutes into the third. Costello put a third goal on the scoreboard and evened the playing field with his second of the night on the Oilers 20th shot, ultimately sending the game into overtime. Texas' fourth and fifth shooters Calin Wild and Chad Woollard potted the victory beating Cann in net and sending the Oilers their first shootout loss of the year.
The Brahmas will now hit the road to face the Mississippi RiverKings for back to back games on Friday and Saturday. Games are set for 7:05 pm and can be seen on CHL-TV . Texas returns home for the final game in the regular season before playoffs gear up and "Fan Appreciation Night", as they host the Laredo Bucks for a 7:30 pm contest at the NYTEX Sports Centre. A special pregame ceremony will take place on the ice to honor Chad Woollard, the Brahmas all-time leader in scoring, for his 700th career game and point. The first 700 fans at NYTEX will receive commemorative "Woolly on a stick" fans. In effort to show their gratitude for their fans, the Brahmas will present prizes throughout the game for the game. For ticket information, please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com .
* Next Wednesday, March 23 the Brahmas will host their "Tip-A-Waiter" night at the Hooters in North Richland Hills (Hwy. 26) from 7-9 pm. Brahmas players will be working as waiters for the evening and collecting tips to donate to a local charity.
