Laredo Bucks News Release


LOVELAND, CO- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Colorado Eagles 5-0 Wednesday night at the Budweiser Events Center. The loss keeps Laredo two points behind Rio Grande Valley for the final playoff spot in the Berry Conference. The Bucks fall to 22-31-8 (52 points) on the season.

Kyle Jones stopped all 25 shots he faced to pick up the shutout as the Eagles improve to 37-21-4 and move into first place by themselves in the Turner Conference.

The Eagles jumped out in front of the Bucks just 19 seconds into the game when Jason Beatty scored from the top of the left circle off of a face-off. The goal was just Beatty's second of the season. Colorado has scored the first goal in 34 games this season.

Laredo, who had their two-game winning streak snapped, went 0-for-three on the power-play in the opening period as they were outshot by Colorado 12-11.

Colorado would break the game open with three second period goals including two that came just 31 seconds apart.

The Eagles went up 2-0 at the 7:24 mark of the second when Daymen Rycroft banged in a rebound from the left circle to net his 30th of the season.

Colorado would then score twice in just 31 seconds to make it 4-0 after two periods. With 4:45 left in the period Joe Grimaldi scored from the slot to pick up his ninth goal of the campaign.

31 seconds later Kevin Ulanski scored on his own rebound to put Colorado up 4-0. The strike was Ulanski's 29th of the season.

Colorado outshot Laredo 13-7 in the second period.

Ulanski made it 5-0 when he scored on a rebound in the slot to score his second of the game and 30th of the season.

The Bucks were outshot 8-7 in the third period and 33-25 for the game.

Pier Pelletier stopped 31 of 35 shots for the Bucks.

Wednesday night Terry Ruskowski passed Gary Unger for fifth place all-time in CHL history with 569 games coached in nine seasons in Laredo.

The Bucks play a two-game series in Rapid City on Friday and Saturday. Both games start at 8:05pm.

BIKER NIGHT, GIVE BLOOD, PLAY HOCKEY MARCH 26th

On Saturday March 26th the Bucks host Missouri on Biker Night and will host their semi-annual Give Blood Play Hockey Blood drive at Laredo Energy Arena.

The Bucks will wear special biker jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game.

The Give Blood, Play Hockey blood drive is from 10am-6pm in the LEA concourse with everyone who donates blood receiving FREE BUCKS TICKETS and other great gifts. Call 718-BUCK for info.

The Bucks will also hold their first-ever Biker Poker Run that day with registration starting at 2:30pm at Harley Davidson. Bikers who participate in the poker run will get TWO tickets to the game, receive beer specials that night and are registered to win great prizes. PUCKS & PAWS DAY MARCH 27th

On Sunday March 27th the Bucks host Texas in the regular season finale at Laredo Energy Arena with a special start time of 4pm. The Bucks will host their first-ever Pucks and Paws day, where fans can bring their dog to the game for only $10 per dog. The dog must be 25 pounds or less. $5 out of the $10 will go directly to the Laredo Animal Shelter. There will be special activities for the dogs that day, including a Dog Photo Booth, "Category Dog Contests" such as owner/dog look-a-like, a dog obstacle course, and City of Laredo/Animal Control tutorials.
