Allen Remains on Top of Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll

March 16, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

TEMPE, AZ (March 16, 2011) - The Allen Americans are perched and ready to claim the CHL's regular season championship (Bud Poile Governors' Cup Trophy) and the rest of the coaches around the CHL have taken notice as once again the Americans have been voted the #1 team on the Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll. Allen has held the top spot for seven consecutive polls and currently pace the CHL with a 43-15-2 record and need just one win to win the Governors' Cup.

Each first place vote receives 10 points, second place votes earn nine points, etc. The final poll will be released following the completion of the 2010-11 regular season which concludes on Sunday, March 27.

Other than Allen, no other CHL team held on to the spot they claimed two weeks ago. The Bloomington PrairieThunder jumped from #4 to #2, while the Rapid City Rush and Colorado Eagles each dropped one spot to #3 and #4, respectively.

The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, winners of five straight games, made the biggest climb moving up three spots from #8 to #5. No other team moved more than one spot up or down.

All 10 teams on the CHL Coaches Poll remained the same from the poll released in early March marking the third straight poll that these 10 teams have appeared on the poll.

The Americans earned 16 first place votes, while the PrairieThunder and Rush each earned one first place vote.
