Texas Legends News Release
BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Texas Legends (15-10) defeated the Bakersfield Jam (10-18) 111-101 Tuesday night on the road behind a 48-point effort from Brandon Ashley and Tu Holloway.
Bakersfield's Terrico White exploded for 17 first-quarter points, but the combined attack of the Legends' starting lineup proved too much as the visitors took a 31-29 lead at the first buzzer.
Texas pushed ahead by as many as nine in the second, but Xavier Silas powered out 13 to keep the Jam within reach. With seconds left, Silas cut Bakersfield's deficit to one, but Toure' Murry beat the buzzer with a long ball to put the Legends up 61-57. The two teams matched for 22 field goals at the half with Bakersfield leading the three column, but the Legends found their advantage at the free throw line, going 14-of-14.
The second half got off to a slow start as both teams found themselves shooting 33% in the third. Ashley fueled the Legends with 11 points, 5 rebounds as they fought to maintain the lead. Texas kept the advantage through the final quarter, going up by as many as 16, and held on to even the season series 1-1.
The Legends finished with five players in double-digits. Ashley led with 26 points, 8 rebounds while Holloway added 22 points, 8 assists. Jamil Wilson, Murry and Patrick Miller added 15 points apiece and Allen Durham dominated the boards with 11 rebounds and 8 points.
White had a game-high 33 points for Bakersfield while Silas added 20 and Munford finished with 18 points, 6 assists.
The Legends will head to Los Angeles next to take on the D-Fenders tomorrow night at 9:30pm CT. Fans can catch all the action live on www.TexLegends.com.
