
Texas Strikes Out, Dallas Sidekicks Win 15-1 on the Road

Beaumont, TX - With 10 unanswered goals in the second half, the Dallas Sidekicks defeated the Texas Strikers 15-1 on the road Saturday night. The Sidekicks are now now 9-2 for the season so far with five regular season games to go.
Nestor Hernandez started off the match with an early goal, followed up by Arthur Ivo in the first quarter. Nick Stavrou gave the Sidekicks 3-0 lead at 3:23 in the second, but Texas' Rico Keeling broke the 95:31 scoreless streak of Sidekicks goalkeeper Milo with the team's first and only goal of the match. Ivo scored his second mid-quarter, and Dominc Schell scored his third of the season at 14:47 to put the Sidekicks up 5-1 going into halftime.
The Sidekicks second half was all Sidekicks, the team scoring 10 unanswered goals. Dallas started off the second quarter with another early goal, Ivo completing his first career hat trick two minutes in. A few minutes later Franck Mbemba scored his first of the night, followed by back-to-back goals from Mark Withers, Renato and Hernandez. A late goal from Mbemba made the score 11-1 Sidekicks at the end of the quarter. Mbemba struck again 3:34 into the fourth quarter, earning the second Dallas hat trick of the night. Sidekicks forward Renato scored his second of the season at 12:21, and Patrick Shamu got a goal of his own a few minutes later. Hernandez cemented a hat trick and the Sidekicks victory, the final score 15-1
The Sidekicks remain on the road for their next match on Saturday, January 18 in Tulsa to take on the Revolution. It will be the Strikers' turn to make their way to Dallas in the Sidekicks' next game at the Allen Event Center on Saturday, January 25 at 7:00 p.m. Individual and season tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster.
