Texas Runs into a Jam in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD - The Bakersfield Jam (20-12) cruised past the Texas Legends (16-17) by a score of 129-90 at the Jam Events Center tonight. Bakersfield was in control throughout the game, outscoring Texas in every quarter of the contest.
Antonio Daniels kept the Legends in the game in the first half by scoring 15 points (13 in the first quarter) as Texas entered halftime being down 44-58. But the Jam caught fire in the second half, shooting 61.0% from the field and 58.8% from downtown, hitting a total of 16 three-pointers on the night, to earn the victory. Bakersfield had 8 steals leading to 18 fast break points. They also grabbed 51 rebounds (14 offensive) to tally 20 second-chance points. The Jam shared the ball en-route to a season-high 36 assists.
Seven Bakersfield Jam players finished in double figures, led by Clippers assignee, Willie Warren, who scored a team-high 25 points. Derrick Byars contributed 21 points. Brandon Wallace added 16 points off the bench. Drew Naymick finished with a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds. Kenny Taylor had 14 points, including 4 three-pointers. Stephen Dennis came short of a triple-double, tallying 12 points, 13 assists and 7 rebounds.
Only three Texas Legends finished in double figures in the loosing effort. Joe Alexander had 23 points (all coming in the second half) and dished out 5 assists. Daniels contributed 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Center Sean Williams scored 13 points and grabbed 8 boards.
Bakersfield will look to complete the series sweep of the Texas Legends on Monday, February 14th at 7 p.m.
