
Texas Rangers Wrap up 2012 MLB Draft

Spokane, WA -The Texas Rangers concluded the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft today after selecting 43 total players in the draft's three days and 40 rounds.
The Rangers selected 26 pitchers and 17 position players, including 24 players from college programs and 19 players drafted from high schools. Texas picked three players from the Northwest including Gonzaga University outfielder Royce Bolinger, Everett Community College pitcher Keone Kela, and Mark Morris High School (Longview, WA) southpaw Zachary Brill (31st round).
Other notable selections include ultra-athletic high school outfielder Lewis Brinson (1st round), power-hitting third baseman Joey Gallo (1st round-supplemental), hard-throwing pitcher Collin Wiles (1st round-supplemental), Stony Brook University catcher Patrick Cantwell (3rd round) and Florida State quarterback recruit Jameis Winston (15th round).
The Texas Rangers will begin to assign players to Spokane in the next few days, with the players due to report to Spokane on Monday, June 11th. In addition to players from this year's draft, the Indians roster will also be comprised of international signings, players from other teams in the Rangers' farm system, and players from extended spring training in Arizona. The Indians first official team workout will be held on Tuesday, June 12th at Avista Stadium and is open to the public.
