Texas Legends News Release
FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends and The Sports Performance Center at The Star today announced another first in their historic partnership. The Sports Performance Center will become the official practice facility of the Legends.
The court will be dedicated in honor of the late William "Bill" Alton Keaton, former CEO of Baylor Medical Center of Frisco. "Bill Keaton Court" will be the official practice court of the Legends. The partnership will also afford the team immediate access to areas of the 65,000 square foot sports performance center including a dedicated trainer, access to all of the amenities, and industry leading healthcare and injury prevention at the practice facility.
The new facility at The Star also includes an imaging center, urgent care center, outpatient rehabilitation therapy services, a pharmacy, physicians' offices, and a brain injury program, along with the full size basketball court branded with both the Legends and Dallas Mavericks logos.
"It's truly an honor to be a part of the future of sports medicine and research with the Baylor Scott & White Sports Performance Center," said Dallas Mavericks President/General Manager and Legends Owner Donnie Nelson. "This facility will be a topic of conversation both nationally and internationally, and we are fortunate to have the kind of partnership with the SPC that they would include us in this."
"Bill Keaton was a dear friend, so for us to have the opportunity to honor his legacy with something that's so impactful for us is a dream come true. We are proud to continue the partnership and to set such a high standard in the sports world with Baylor and Bill Keaton Court at the forefront," said Nelson.
The Sports Therapy and Research Building opened in June of this year. The Sports Performance Center, inside the 300,000 square foot facility located directly across from the Dallas Cowboys' indoor practice facility, offers individuals and athletes of all ages and skill levels customized services and amenities to optimize performance, reduce the risk of injury, and enhance recovery. For athletes, the focus is on performance optimization through consultation and programming, nutrition, hydration, recovery, and training. The center will also host camps and clinics for Frisco and neighboring communities.
"The Texas Legends are such an integral part of our community and we are honored to work with them to provide outstanding performance optimization and injury prevention for their athletes," said Kevin Coats, General Manager of The Sports Performance Center at the Star.
