Texas AirHogs News Release

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - The Texas AirHogs closed the series vs. Kansas City with a bang Saturday, scoring a 6-5 victory over the T-Bones at AirHogs Stadium. Stewart Ijames and Luan Chenchen combined for five runs in a crucial bottom half of the sixth to lead a furious comeback.

Miguel Rosario drew the start for Texas and allowed three runs in the fourth and fifth. He found trouble in the first, allowing two in scoring position before notching a strikeout and getting a 9-2 double play on a potential sacrifice fly. For Ijames, who caught Dylan Tice tagging at the plate, it was the second straight game with a runner caught trying to score.

An early Dillon Thomas RBI double put Texas up 3-1 in the third, but, by the sixth, the lead had evaporated. The AirHogs mounted a comeback though, scoring twice on base hit by Luan Chenchen. After a Yang Jin double, Ijames shattered the 3-3 tie with a home run to right center off of Kansas City relief man Jackson Lowery.

The T-Bones (30-17) tagged AirHogs reliever Sean Stutzman for a pair of runs in the seventh before Yang Yanyong entered to strand a man in scoring position. Taylor Wright left two baserunners in the eighth before Carlos Contreras notched a 1-2-3 ninth.

Lu Yusong (2-0) picked up the win after firing 1.2 scoreless innings behind Rosario. Lucas Irvine (4-1) suffered the loss after allowing five runs (five earned) and nine hits. The save was the third of the season for Contreras.

Texas (12-34) will enjoy a day off Sunday before heading to Gary, Indiana to take on the RailCats (23-23) on Monday. The starter for Texas is TBA. The RailCats expected to give the ball to LHP Lars Liguori (1-4, 3.80 ERA). A live stream of the game will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs.

The AirHogs - powered by Beijing Shougang Eagles travel to Gary and Wichita next week and will return home July 16 for a doubleheader vs. the Chicago Dogs. Tickets for all home games are available.
