Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (March 14)- The Brahmas came up just short, still earning a point in a shootout, as they fell 3-2 to the Laredo Bucks Sunday afternoon.

Strong puck play from Matt Pierce set up a gritty goal from former Buck James Hiebert in the crease for the lead in the first at the 3:44 mark. The goal extends both Hiebert and Pierce's point streaks to six games. Sylvain Deschatelets scored the equalizer for the Bucks with Laredo's 16th shot of the game in the second period.

The Bucks began the third on the powerplay as Ross Rouleau served a holding call, and just as the penalty expired Eric Giosa beat Brett Jaeger for their first lead in the game. With two huge points on the line for the Conference standings, the Brahmas knew they had to come out firing for the remainder of the period, peppering 12 shots on Pier-Olivier Pelletier. With just over a single minute remaining in regulation and the game on the line, Texas defenseman Justin Kinnunen took a feed from fellow blueliner Kevin McLeod for the game tying goal to send the game into overtime.

It wouldn't be fitting for the two teams to wrap up their regular season series with only an additional five minutes, so the fan favorite shootout was necessary at the NYTEX Sports Centre. The Brahmas were unable to convert on any of their shootout attempts, allowing veteran forward Jeff Bes to net the game winner and the three point edge for the third seed in the South.

The Brahmas have one regular season home game at the NYTEX Sports Centre scheduled for Saturday, March 20 before playoffs begin against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. All fans in attendance for the 7:05 PM faceoff will be treated for the "Fan Appreciation Night" game. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com.
