
Jacks Outlast Amarillo In 2-1 Win

(Amarillo, TX) - Collin Circelli scored a pair of goals and Joel Martin stopped 24 shots as the Odessa Jackalopes held on for a 2-1 win over the Amarillo Gorillas on Sunday at the Amarillo Civic Center. The win lowers Odessa's magic number to two points to clinch the CHL's Governor's Cup Trophy. The Jackalopes picked up five of a possible six points in their three-in-three weekend going 2-0-1.
Circelli's third period goal at 7:22 proved to be the game-winner as it gave the Jackalopes a 2-0 lead. David Nimmo recorded Amarillo's only goal, deflecting a shot in front of the net at 14:19.
Circelli also scored the game's opening goal at 8:58 of the first period on assists from Jeff Pierce and Sebastien Thinel by putting a loose puck in the right side of the goal crease past Mike Brown.
With Odessa's first period goal, Circelli and Thinel each extended their individual point streaks -- Circelli to eight games, Thinel to nine games.
Odessa's record improves to 45-11-5 on the season.
Martin earned his 24th win of the season in net for Odessa.
The Jackalopes close their road trip on Wednesday when they visit the Laredo Bucks. Game time is set for 7:05 PM. The action can be heard on Classic Rock 102.1 FM.
