Bucks, Pelletier Win In Shootout To Increase Lead For Third

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League beat the Texas Brahmas 3-2 in a shootout Sunday night at the NYTEX Sports Center. The Bucks increase their lead to three points over the Brahmas for third place in the Southern Conference as they improve to 31-20-10 (72 points).
Jeff Bes scored the game-winner in the shootout while Pier Pelletier stopped all four Brahmas attempts and picked up 34 saves in the game to lead the Bucks to a 3-0 weekend. Pelletier is 9-0-1 in his last 10 decisions.
Laredo won the season series over the Brahmas 4-3.
Texas tied the game at 2-2 with just 1:13 left in regulation when Justin Kinnunen banged home a rebound right in front of the Bucks net to send the game to overtme.
Eric Giosa put the Bucks up 2-1 when he jammed in a rebound just 1:49 into the third period to pick up his 11th of the season.
The Bucks were outshot 12-4 in the third and 36-29 in the game.
The Brahmas (31-23-7, 69 points) took the early lead at 1-0 as they struck just 3:44 into the first period. James Hiebert jammed in a rebound from the right side of the crease to pick up his eighth goal of the season.
Laredo outshot Texas 12-6 in the first period as they came up empty on three power-play chances.
The Bucks would even the score at 1-1 at the 6:50 mark of the second period when Sylvain Deschatelets hammered home a rebound from the bottom of the right circle. The strike was Deschatelets' sixth in 10 games and his third straight contest with a marker.
Texas outshot Laredo 14-10 in the second period.
Brett Jaeger stopped 26 of 28 shots in the game to suffer the loss for Texas.
The Bucks played with only 13 skaters Sunday as Jarred Mohr, Mike Looby and Tyler Fletcher did not make the trip due to upper-body injuries.

The Bucks will hold the first annual community job fair presented by Staff Connection on Saturday March 20th at the Laredo Entertainment Center.
