Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (November 3)- It was a competitive game between the pipes Tuesday evening between Texas and Mississippi; and it was the Riverkings who had the slight edge in the shootout for the 2-1 win. The Brahmas earned a point in the shootout loss.

The scoring began when Bobby Chaumont's shot went atop Brahmas netminder, Joe Palmer's glove for the first goal of the night and a Mississippi lead just 1:35 in the second period. Minutes later the Brahmas found themselves with an odd man rush and Dan Welch blazed a pass to Grant Jacobsen who netted his fifth goal of the season. Sixty minutes wouldn't be enough for the teams as the game headed into the 4-on-4 overtime. It looked as if the game was over when Texas forward Lee Jubinville was on a breakaway, just to be stoned by 'Kings goalie Ray Jean. But the stingy goaltending was not allowing any heroic efforts in the extra period giving Texas the opportunity for their second shootout in as many games.

Mississippi's second shooter, Louis Dumont, beat Palmer in the thrilling shootout, and it wasn't until Texas' fifth and final shooter when they were able to break Jean from his flawless efforts. Jordan Cameron scored the lone goal in the shootout for Texas, only to be followed by Ryan Held who posted the game winner.

Texas outshot Mississippi 34-26, but were 0 for 10 on the powerplay. Palmer now goes 2-0-2 for the season.

Texas will travel to Amarillo Friday for a 7:05 PM faceoff against the Gorillas and all the action can be caught live online on CHL TV. The Brahmas return home Saturday for a tilt against the Tulsa Oilers at 7:05 PM. Then on Sunday, their fourth game in six days, Texas will play the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs for a 4:05 PM matinee game. Prior to faceoff the Brahmas and NYTEX will host a Championship Ring Ceremony. For tickets please call (817) 336-4423 or log on to: www.brahmas.com.
